Privacy policy

The Hong Kong Animal Law and Protection Organisation is an unincorporated association. The policy provides an explanation on the collection and use of any private information which may be submitted when you use this website.

What information is collected?

The HKALPO collects information when you join, subscribe or register to receive one of our publications. This information may include your name, email address and phone number. We also collect information when you voluntarily complete surveys, provide feedback and participate in any of our work.

We may collect information relating to how you use the emails we send to you, including when they are opened and whether you have activated any of the hyperlinks that are embedded. We may also collect information about the email client and web browser you use.

They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accesed either by the web server or the client computer. how will we use the information?

We collect information about you to process your membership, and if you agree, to email material to you about other services or information we think may be of interest to you.

We may share your information with other memberships of the group, limited to the executive members and volunteer team, for the smooth running of the organisation.

How we protect your privacy

Your privacy is extremely important to us and we endeavour to follow the rules and requirements set out in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

Your information will not be passed on to other organisations, except as required by law or for the processing of your membership.

We use Mailchimp to manage our membership and subscriber database. Mailchimp has staff based outside the European Economic Area and stores your data in the United States of America. We limit the access of information within our organisation to trustees and volunteers who have a standing role undertaking executive functions and then only as necessary for the functioning of this role.

Access to your information, correction and removal

We want to make sure your personal information is accurate and up to date. You can ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate. You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you.

You have a right to request removal of your personal information from our records if it is no longer necessary for us to retain your information for the purpose it was originally collected.
